What began as a wrecked Lotus Exige S240 has evolved into one of our most extensively developed track cars. Explore each chapter of the build as we document the rebuild, testing, engineering, and continuous refinement that transformed it into the machine it is today.

  • Part 1: The Rebuild

    It all starts here. Follow the story of how we acquired a wrecked Lotus Exige S240 and began the long process of bringing it back to life.

  • Part 2: Livery, Weight Reduction, & Early Testing

    With the chassis back together, the Exige takes its next step toward becoming a dedicated race car. This chapter covers the custom livery, weight reduction, and the first round of performance testing.

  • Part 3: Electronics, Aero & Laguna Seca Testing

    Development continues with custom wiring, data acquisition, and race-ready electronics. We also debut a new chassis-mounted splitter and put the latest upgrades to the test at Laguna Seca.

  • Part 4: Completing the Aero Package

    The Exige receives its biggest aerodynamic upgrade yet with a new diffuser, side skirts, trunk delete, and Voltex wing. Fresh tires and more testing at Laguna Seca reveal just how much these changes improve the car's performance.

  • Part 5: Solving the Cooling Challenge

    To keep the Exige performing consistently on track, we tackle one of its biggest weaknesses—heat. A new charge cooling system, driver cooling upgrades, and testing at Buttonwillow prove just how much of a difference proper cooling can make.

  • Part 6: Fuel & Oil Control

    As cornering speeds continue to climb, new challenges emerge. We upgrade the Exige's fuel and oil systems with a baffled fuel tank and accusump, then validate the improvements through data logging and track testing at Thunderhill.

  • Part 7: Clutch, Transmission & Reliability Upgrades

    After a transmission issue cuts a track weekend short, it's time to dig deeper. We upgrade the clutch, refresh the transmission, tackle several reliability improvements, and get the Exige ready for another season of track driving.

  • Part 8: Building the Roll Cage

    With the Exige's performance continuing to evolve, it's time to focus on safety. This chapter follows the design and fabrication of a custom roll cage built to meet racing regulations while preserving visibility, serviceability, and the car's lightweight philosophy.

    Part 9: Bigger Brakes & Race Prep

    With the roll cage complete, the focus shifts to braking performance and final race preparations. We upgrade the brake system, complete the remaining safety equipment, and prepare the Exige for its first wheel-to-wheel racing events.

    Part 10.1: The K24 Swap Begins

    After a couple years of development with the factory drivetrain, it's time for the Exige's biggest transformation yet. In the first installment of our K24 swap, we plan the conversion, source key components, and begin fitting Honda power into the chassis.

  • Part 10.2: Bringing the K24 to Life

    The major components are installed, but the real work is in the details. We complete the wiring, cooling, fuel system, and fabrication needed to bring the K24 swap to life.

  • Part 10.3: First Start, Dyno & Track Testing

    The K24 swap is finally complete. From the engine's first startup and dyno tuning to its first shakedown at Laguna Seca, we put the new setup to the test and evaluate how the Exige performs with Honda power.

  • Part 11: Head Work & Global Time Attack

    To prepare for Global Time Attack at Buttonwillow, the Exige receives a built cylinder head for more top-end power. We put the upgrades to the test during a full race weekend, chasing faster lap times and a coveted sub-1:50 lap.

  • Part 12: Fine-Tuning the Brakes

    We install a dual master cylinder brake bias system to improve pedal feel and braking balance. The new setup delivers greater confidence on track and gives us the adjustability to dial in the Exige for different conditions.

  • Part 13: A Complete Electrical Overhaul

    We completely redesign the Exige's electrical system with a custom engine harness, Emtron ECU, and AiM PDM32, creating a cleaner, more reliable foundation for the next stage of the build.
